Human Devt, Social Justice, My Priority – Sen Shekarau

The Senator representing Kano Central, Ibrahim Shekarau has vowed to execute more projects in his constituency to uplift the well being of the electorates.

Malam Shekarau made this known to newsmen in Kano.

Senator Ibrahim shekarau said since his assumption in office as senator representing Kano central he had focused more on human development and social justice.

He explained that his priority was to improve education, health and economic wellbeing of the people in the 172 wards within his senatorial zone.

According to him, through the Basic Primary Education Board (UBEC) he undertook some projects in some schools in 15 Local Government Areas of the zone.

“My immediate priority in my constituency projects is how to improve the education sector because it is the bedrock of development.

“We therefore used the available funds allocated for constituency projects to provide some projects at the primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in our zone.

Another area of priority, according to Shekarau is health, noting that he would continue to execute more projects aimed at improving the lives of his constituents.

In this light, Shekarau said, he undertook a road project at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) after consulting the management of the health facility on the project they wanted.

The 1,300 meters long road network in the AKTH is in progress with over 800 meters already completed.

The former minister of education also said he facilitated distribution of N40 million through the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN) for empowerment of 40,000 people in the 172 wards of his constituency.

He said the beneficiaries were given N10, 000 each to improve their businesses.

The Senator noted that the empowerment would make life easier and cushion the effects of poverty.

Shekarau assured the constituents of more people oriented projects to improve their lives.
