The House of Representatives say plans are underway To enact new laws that will ensure efficient management of all recovered assets for the benefit of the country.
The Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila stated this in Abuja at a one day investigative hearing on the assessment and status of all recovered loots, movable and immovable assets from 2002 – 2020.
Represented by the Deputy Leader of the House, Peter Akpatason, the Speaker said the measure was to restore the confidence of Nigerians that the assets recovered were being properly managed for revenue generation.
The Chairman of the adhoc Committee, Adejero Adeogun also explained that the investigation was to strengthen the existing legislations and ensure transparency in the management of recovered assets.
While expressing concern over non-appearance of the Chief Executives invited for the investigation, the committee directed the Accountant General of the Federation, the Attorney General of the Federation and Chairman EFCC to appear before it on Tuesday.
