HOR Reassures Nigs Of Efforts To Stop Irregular Tariff Pricing By Digital TV

The House of Representatives has reassured Nigerians that investigations into the
non-implementation of the pay as you view tariff plan by digital television service providers has not been abandoned.

The Chairman House Ad-hoc committee on the tariff plan by broadcast satalite Service providers, Idem Unyime, from Akwa Ibom State gave the reassurance while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Friday.

According to him, investigations into the matter was stalled due to lack of regulatory powers by the National Broadcasting Commission NBC to effect such demands.

The lawnaker however noted that the house was working assiduously to ammend the NBC Act to make available the required regulatory provision that will terminate the challenge of irregular tariff pricing in the sector.

Unyime who is a co sponsor of the bill seeking to repeal the NBC Act added that the ammendment would also address the monopoly in the industry that has hampered creativity and other enormous potential.
