HOR : PDP Caucus Wants FG To Uphold Fundamental Rights Of Nigs

Members of the House of Representatives, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Caucus has called on the Federal Government to respect June 12 as the symbol of democratic freedom and supremacy of the People’s power.

This is contained in a statement signed by the leader of the caucus Kingsley Chinda from Rivers State.

The caucus while reiterating the need for the democratic freedom and supremacy of the People’s power to be respected by ensuring that all the tenets of democracy are adhered to in all ramifications, also gave a three-point demand to help the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration move Nigeria forward .

The lawmakers urged the APC led government to Improve on all democratic practices by respecting the rule of law and press freedom, and immediately reverse the suspension of Twitter in Nigeria and also set aside the undemocratic regulation of the media in the country.

They also stressed the need for government to place greater value on lives of Nigerians and take decisive and pragmatic steps to end the avoidable carnages and deaths in the land by adopting mind-set change programs.

The caucus called on the Federal Government to restrain the Police and other security forces from further unleashing violence on unarmed youths and other peaceful protesters who chose to go out and exercise their rights in commemoration of Democracy Day and on any other day they so desire, as this remains their constitutional rights.

The lawmakers while congratulating Nigerians on the democracy day celebration commiserated with the people who were reported to have been massacred by bandits in Zamfara state and other parts of the country.
