The House of Representatives says it will appropriate funds for compensation of victims of the #EndSARS protests.
The Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila stated this while commenting on dissolution of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS by President Muhammadu Buhari at plenary.
According to him the action will be in line with the resolve of the House to ensure that the lives of those reportedly killed during the protests in parts of the country did not go in vain.
The Speaker further explained that a Comprehensive list of the victims will be obtained by the House and funds for compensating their families will be included in the 2021 budget process.
Gbajabiamila also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for listening to the Nigerian people and disbanding the SARS unit of the Nigeria Police .
The Speaker who assured that the House would keep to its resolution by immediately commencing the legislative process of reforming the Nigeria Police said the proposed legislation would soon be tabled on the floor of the House .
A Minute silence was observed in honour of those who lost their lives in the protests.
