The House of Representatives has passed for second reading a Bill for an Act to Establish the Nigerian Health Infrastructure Development Bank.
The bill which seeks to promote the Health of Nigerians by boosting Local Healthcare Capacity is jointly sponsored by Mansur Sorro from Bauchi State and the Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Leading the debate on the bill, Sorro who reiterated the need for the private sector to bridge the infrastructural deficit in the health sector urged Government to create an enabling environment to encourage private investors.
The lawmaker who explained that the Federal Government would be the major financier of this initiative to expand the health sector said loan facilities would be given out at a single digit interest rate.
Ruling on the bill, the Deputy Speaker Ahmed Wase who presided over plenary referred the bill to relevant committees of the House.
