Nigerians have been advised to always hold their leaders accountable while they are in office.
The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan gave the advice while featuring on “Politics Today” a Kapital FM Current Affairs Programme in Abuja.
Speaking on the topic “Do or Die Politics, A Threat To National Unity” Mr. Ologbondiyan stressed that if they allow the citizens to express their wishes and their votes to count, it will eliminate the do or die Politics from the nation.
The PDP stalwart maintained that to check the trend the rules of engagement must be followed to the letter.
Mr. Ologbondiyan also appealed to Nigerians to be patriotic and promote peace and unity in the country irrespective of their religion, ethnic and political affiliations
Also speaking on the programme, another guest and a political Analyst, Mr. Victor Alonge called on the National Assembly to enact laws that would impact positively on the lives of Nigerians.
He explained that if politicians respect the law of the land it would go a long way in strengthening the democratic system in the country.
Mr. Alonge urged politicians to be in the forefront of enhancing transparency and accountability in governance.
The guests therefore appealed to political office holders to always lead by example to earn the confidence of the citizens.
