Agro Allied Civil Society Organisations in Nasarawa State have commenced a three day workshop for their members on importance of Inclusive Budgeting Process and Community Development Approach.
At the opening of the workshop in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital,President, Association of Small Scale Agro Producers in Nigeria Mr Jonathan Joshua called on leaders to commit substantial resources to the Agricultural sector for optimal productivity.
Mr Jonathan Joshua said the workshop was aimed at stimulating funding for Agriculture, creating awareness to farmers on how they can be involved in budgeting proposals for the sector and close monitoring to ensure implementation.
He stressed the need for Nasarawa State Government to take decisive steps towards increased budgetary allocation for the agricultural sector as part of efforts towards achieving zero hunger as stipulated in the Sustainable Development Goal 2.
President,Young Men Christian Association in the State, Mr. Obadiah Anji called for more opportunities for youths and women groups in agriculture to fast track economic growth.
The workshop which was Organized in collaboration with Agro Allied Non Governmental Organization, OXFAM featured paper presentations on government’s policies on Agriculture and budget tracking among others.
