Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has directed traditional and Community leaders in the State to ensure law and order in their domains, as they will be held responsible for any breach of Peace.
The Governor, who stated this at a strategic engagement with the leaders, tasked them to engage their people on the need to ensure peace.
He said he imposed the 24 hours curfew on Jos North and Jos South because the protest was degenerating into chaos, as hoodlums were attacking innocent citizens, destroying businesses and vehicles as well as burning of a pplace of worship.
He said no responsible Government would fold its arms and allow miscreants hijack a peaceful protest to terrorise innocent citizens.
The Governor called on victims of harassment by SARS and other security units to channel their complaints to the Judicial panel on inquiry on police brutality and other related extra judicial killings.
Lalong assured that his administration would do everything possible to implement the outcome of the Panel recommendations.
He stressed the need for a policing architecture that is community driven and manned by people of integrity, equipped, motivated and well paid to perform their duties with passion, compassion and honesty.
Lalong who appreciated the leaders for their continuous support in ensuring that they build a peaceful and prosperous Plateau charged them to remain resolute.
