Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State has assured people of the State that the era of poor budget implementation is over.
He gave the assurance while signing into law the 2021 Appropriation Bill in Abuja.
Governor Ishaku also stated that henceforth Government would monitor expenditure to ensure efficiency in the way Ministries, Departments and Agencies spend State resources for proper accountability and transparency.
According to the Governor, Government would spend about one point four one billion Naira on key sectors which includes infrastructure, education, healthcare, water supply, agriculture, and employment.
” The approved budget will improve our deliveries in the infrastructure, education, health care, water supply and Agriculture sectors to create Jobs for the citizenry”.
Governor Ishaku commended lawmakers for passing the 2021 Appropriation Bill without rancor and unnecessary bureaucracy.
“I will like to thank the leadership of the House of Assembly particularly the speaker and his Deputy, as well as all the honourable members for passing the 2021 appropriation bill within record time, this is the first in this Administration”.
The Governor promised to intensify efforts in revenue generation, promotion of transparency and probity in government’s quest to strengthen financial management.
The Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, Albasu Kunini said the proposed Appropriation Bill was jerked up from what the executives presented to address pressing issues such as the Covid-19 pandemic.
On the occasion, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Solomon Elisha said the budget had taken into cognizance the security challenges in the State and the North East in general.
The Appropriation Bill 2021 was presented to the Lawmakers on the 4th of this month and passed into law within three weeks which is the first of its kind in the State.
