Gbajabiamila Tasks Journalists On Investigative Journalism

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Fermi Gbajabiamila, has charged journalists to embrace investigative journalism and be objective in their reportage.

Mr Gbajabiamila gave the advice at the formal launch of the House of Representatives Press Corps Annual Calendar at the National Assembly.

The speaker, also urged members of the corps to be different from others in carrying out their responsibilities through objectivity and thorough investigation.

The lawmaker described the event as symbolic, saying it puts a pictorial form on the relationship between the House Press Corps and the leadership of the House.

In his address, the Chairman house committee on services, Mr Wale Raji, who reiterated the need for the Press Corps and the House leadership to be partners in progress, promised to provide an enabling environment and needed support for journalists to carryout their duties.

The Chairperson of the press corps, Miss Grace Ike, called for training and retraining of journalists covering the House, saying that this would further enhance their productivity.

Miss Ike also thanked the speaker for his magnanimity and support for the Corps, adding that such relationship should be sustained.
