The Federal Road Safety Commission
FRSC has warned motorists particularly commercial drivers who obstruct traffic while picking passengers in the federal Capital Territory to desist.
The FCT Sector Commander, Mr Gora Wobin who gave the warning while speaking with news men in Abuja said despite advocacy visits and meetings with transport Union leaders some commercial drivers were still violating traffic rules and regulations.
The Sector Commander said any driver causing obstruction on FCT roads would henceforth be arrested, his vehicle impounded and forced to visit a Government hospital for psychiatric test.
Mr Gora Wobin also advised motorists to always exercise patience and park appropriately to reduce road accidents during heavy rains.
He also stressed the need for drivers to always use wipers, put off the radio, avoid phone calls and parking under trees to avert thunder strikes while driving in the rain.
The FCT FRSC Boss reiterated the commission’s readiness in carrying out safer road campaigns in motor parks, bus terminals and public places for effective traffic control in the six Area Councils of the territory.
