Former Speaker Emerges PDP Candidate For Plateau South Bye Election

Former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly George Daika  has won the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Southern Senatorial District bye-election scheduled for October 31.

Declaring the result in Shendam, the  Chairman, Primary election committee, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa said Daika polled 434 votes to  defeat  3 other candidates.

Daika, also a former member of the House of representatives will slug it out with  the All Progressives Congress candidate  Professor Nora Daduut during the bye-election to fill the vacant Senate seat following the death of Senator Ignatius Longjan in February, 2020.

Meanwhile, the Senator representing Plateau North, Istifanus Gyang has commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise .

In a statement by  his special adviser Media and protocol Muaa Achoms, Senator Gyang  called for cooperation and understanding of members of the party  for victory during the election.
