First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada Conducts Baptism For Members

First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada Abuja has conducted baptism for some of its members.

Speaking during the event which took place at the church’s auditorium, the Minister in charge, Reverend Deji Oyelami said the exercise was in line with the teaching of Jesus Christ according to the book of Mathew Chapter 28 verse 19.

Reverend Oyelami stated that those who were baptised had already confessed Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal saviour after months of training.

He therefore admonished them to be steadfast in faith and prayers to enable them succeed in their christian journey on earth.

The Clergyman used the opportunity to advice christians to shun all sinful acts that could deny them eternity.

Reverend Oyelami who expressed concern over the attitude of some christians towards the gospel of Jesus Christ stressed the need for them to always be obedient to the words of God in their endeavours.

He explained that the exercise which would be a continuous one was to strengthen the faith of members of the church to enable them propagate the gospel to others.

“What we have done today is according to Baptist doctrine and the holy Bible that whosoever confesses Jesus as his or her Lord and Saviour be baptised. This would also enable them to be full and recognized members of Baptist and entitled to serve in any capacity as a Baptist member” He explained

Reverend Oyelami therefore urged christians to be united in propagating the word of God in order to win souls for God’s kingdom.

Highlights of the programme were the obvservance of the Lord’s supper and prayers for the church and the country.
