Guests on ‘Perspectives’ a Kapital Fm Current Affairs programme want FCT residents to stop indiscriminate burning of bushes to check fire outbreaks in the territory.
The Assistant Controller General, FCT Fire Service, Mr Julius Opetusin, who made the call while featuring on the programme attributed Bush burning and negligence as some of the causes of fire outbreaks in the FCT.
Mr Opetusin noted that the FCT fire service was doing it’s best to avert the destruction of lives and property by fire.
On his part, a Public Affairs Analyst, Mr Issac Peace, emphasized the need for more public sensitisation on ways to prevent fire disasters in the country.
In his contributions, A caller on the programme, Mr Vincent Onaze stressed the need for the FCT fire service to sensitize residents on the use of fire extinguishers in the case of fire outbreaks.
Mr Onaze who expressed concern over increasing cases of fire outbreaks in the FCT said adequate knowledge of residents on safety measures would help in addressing the menace.
