FG To Launch Nat’l Emergency Medical & Ambulance System

The Federal Government is to launch the National Emergency Medical and Ambulance System to provide prompt and efficient medical services to the people especially at the grassroots.

The Minister of Health, Doctor Osagie Ehanire made this known at a media parley on the Nigeria Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent and
Elderly Health Plus Nutrition RMNCAEH+N in Abuja.

The parley titled ‘Effective Partnership with media sector in improving Health and the wellbeing of women, children, adolescents and the elderly’ to encourage stakeholders partnership coordination platform for health promotion in Nigeria.

The minister of health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire said the Federal Government was poised to utilise every avenue to change the narrative and ensure prompt and effective healthcare service for every Nigerian especially the vulnerable.

In his words “The Federal Government is poised to launch the National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System to provide prompt and efficient emergency Medical Service to the People. It will involve prompt response to medical distress calls of all types with first responders, transfer to facilities, assured first aid at point of care at no immediate user cost.”

The minister therefore urged the media to always engage in programs that would educate the populace on personal hygiene and nutrition to complement efforts towards a healthy nation.

“There is need to strengthen engagement with media institutions and improve strategic communication tools, working with various media platforms to drive social and behavioural change communication and influence attitudes towards Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent and Elderly Health plus Nutrition.
The media also plays a role in social cohesion and in reshaping norms, to become the change agent for positive health seeking behaviour.” He added.

In his remark, the Emir of Shonga, Dr. Haliru Yahaya who pledged commitment of the Royal fathers to lead in the campaign appealed to the media to brace up to the challenge at ensuring that health issues are on the front burner.

Also speaking,, a journalist, Mr. Yusuf Ali while appealing to the minister of health to assist the media with useful information said engaging the media with accurate data would go a long way to ensure the public is not misled.

The twenty twenty one family health operational plan was also inaugurated.
