The Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs Mariam Yalwaji Katagum says the Steering and Program Coordinating Committees of the Nigeria-United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, UNIDO, Country Program, 2018 – 2022, will move fast in ensuring timely and effective implementation of the programs and projects, as enshrined in the Programme.
Mrs Katagum who is the Chairperson Steering and Program Coordinating Committees of the Nigeria-UNIDO Country Program, 2018-2022 stated this during the inauguration of the Committees in Abuja.
The Minister congratulated other members of the Committees and assured them of her leadership and cooperation, in effective implementation of the Programme.
She urged the Committee members to put in their best to enable Nigeria derive maximum benefits from the programme, most especially in areas where there are competitive and comparative advantages, in line with the diversification agenda of the Federal Government.
The Minister who noted that time had been lost prior to the commencement of the Country Programme expressed confidence that the desired results would be achieved within the stipulated period.
According to her, the expectations of the Ministry in the implementation of the Country Program are enormous, especially in terms of technical cooperation and enhancing industrial competitiveness, market access, innovation and investment promotion.
” In this regard, I want to urge UNIDO to come up with an action plan, for each of the thematic groupings, with respective assigned responsibilities” she stated.
While thanking the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Richard Adeniyi Adebayo, for the confidence reposed in the committee members, she maintained that they would bring their wealth of experience and technical expertise to bear on the national assignment, expected to positively impact on the present and future of Nigerians.
