The Federal Government in collaboration with Tuberculosis partners have launched a TB storyboard booklet.
At the launch in Abuja, the National Coordinator, National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control Programme, Dr. Chukwuma Anyaike said this is to fast track advocacy to eradicate the disease in the country.
The launch of the Drug Resistance Tuberculosis storyboard and advocacy workshop organised by Stop TB partnership Nigeria and other partners was aimed at training stakeholders and to share experiences of Mrs Tope Adams and Umar Abdulbaki, who were both drug resistance tuberculosis survivors.
The National Coordinator, National Tuberculosis and Leprosy control programme Dr. Chukwuma Anyaike said the launch would also go a long way to encourage people that the disease is curable and can be eradicated.
Dr. Anyaike who pledged government’s commitment at ensuring quality health care of citizens solicited more funds from stakeholders to end the disease.
Also the Executive Secretary, Stop TB partnership, Mr. Mayowa Joel said his organisation would not hesitate to partner well meaning organisations in assisting the government improve on the health need of nigerians.
Sharing their experiences two of the Drug Resistance TB survivors Tope Adams and Umar Abdul baki said they went through Twenty months of treatment with eight months of daily injections after several treatments due to drug resistance.
Other stakeholders at the forum advocated invention of drugs that could cure tuberculosis within a shorter period.
