The Federal Government is to support civil servants through the special intervention fund from the Central Bank of Nigeria to fast rack access to affordable houses.
The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan made this known in Abuja at the inauguration of two housing estates for civil servants under the Federal Integrated Staff Housing ‘Fish’.
The two housing estates sited in maraba and karshi are part of the federal integrated staff housing for civil servants to address housing deficit for its workforce.
Dr. Yemi-Esan said in addition to the central bank intervention, the inter ministerial committee has allocated additional five hectares of land for FISH in Gwagwalada area council to further address the housing issues for public servants.
According to her “I wish to state that the Office of the Head of
Service is now pursuing the implementation of the FISH
Programme with renewed vigour and will sustain this
momentum by ensuring that more estates are commissioned under the FISH Programme within the
shortest possible time”
In a remark, the Executive Secretary, Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board Mallam Ibrahim Mairiga who stressed that the board would not relent in its effort to ensure it delivered on its mandate said it had put in place a pay-and-pack-in-policy to further ease the plight of civil servants.
Two of the beneficiaries Mrs. Juliet Obey and Mr. Oluwole who appreciated the federal government for the gesture, solicited for more intervention to fix the necessary amenities in the estates.
Seventy two housing units of two and three bedroom flats were handed over to the beneficiaries in the two estates.
