FG Announces New Ag Solicitor General As Apata Bows Out

The Attorney General of the Federation, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has named the Director of Public Prosecution , DPP, Mohammed Umar Estu, as the acting Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary in the ministry.

This is coming after the outgoing Solicitor General, Mr. Dayo Apata, attained the mandatory retirement age of 60.

Malami while urging Mohammed Umar Etsu to build on the efforts of his predecessor, said the Justice ministry would miss Apata’s repository of knowledge on vital aspects of the law.

According to Malami, in countless encounters and very intimate working interaction with Apata over the years, he found him to be resourceful, committed and patriotic in the discharge of his duties for a better Justice sector.

The AGF also immortalized Apata by naming the E-Library of the ministry after the retiring Solicitor General, noting that he deserved a national honour in view of his meritorious service to the nation.

Responding, Apata thanked Malami for projecting him to the world and giving him a free hand in the discharge of his duties as Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice.

Apata who is to clock the mandatory retirement age of 60 this Sunday, had served as Solicitor General in Ekiti state before joining the Federal ministry, and was appointed as SGF of the federation on August 24, 2017.
