The Federal Capital Territory Administration has put in place an Input Support Initiative, to increase Agricultural Activities in the Territory.
Minister of State for FCT, Dr Ramatu Tijani Aliyu who made this known during the flag off of distribution of the farm inputs to small holders farmers,said the inputs such as fertilizers, agro-chemicals, pesticides, feeds and irrigation equipment would help them boost productivity.
Dr Aliyu said the inputs which were given at 50% subsidy was geared towards cushioning the effects of COVID-19 pandemic in the FCT.
The Minister, represented by the Senior Assistant on Agriculture and Rural Development, Malam Abdul Agbadi,said the strategy was adopted to address the plight of vulnerable groups and the attainment of food security.
“It is no longer news that Nigeria’s Agricultural sector has been adversely affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Therefore, we must use every opportunity to proffer measures on how to better support all the production systems towards mitigating the impact of the pandemic. We must evolve better strategies to build on what we have already…”
