The FCT Administration says it has successfully conveyed 603 Certificates of Occupancy to title holders across the country.
The Administration also said it has received 8,744 fresh applications seeking for various types of land allocation in 2020 in the Territory.
FCT Director of Land Administration, Malam Adamu Jibrin Hussaini, stated this during the end of the year press briefing in Abuja.
He explained that out of this number, 299 Certificates of Occupancy were for Sales of Federal Government Houses; while 304 were for other property in the Federal Capital City.
The Director of lands assured that the Department would re strategise to do more in the coming year.
His words: “The FCT Administration intends to change the narrative by assiduously working very hard in the subsequent years to double the conveyance of Certificates of Occupancy to titleholders to ensure that the status grantors of land in the FCT and individual beneficiaries of Mass Housing shall have bankable, marketable titles towards encouraging investment in the FCT; thereby lubricating the post COVID-19 Abuja economy.”
On the fresh applications,Malam Hussani said 5,513 were for private residents , 1,828 for commercial purposes and 1,400 for other purposes in the Federal Capital City, Abuja.
The land Boss added that the Administration received 4,154 applications to conduct legal search to ascertain the veracity or status of such title documents.
“These requests among others comprise of 2,635 for residential applicants and 1,519 for commercial plots and property ,” Hussani said.
Other land transactions registered were ,875 titles including the Certificates of Occupancy; Deed of Assignment; Power of Attorney; Deed of Gift; Deed of Release; Deed of Sublease and Legal Mortgages.
