FCTA Puts Smile On Faces Of Vulnerable Persons

No fewer than Twelve Associations, comprising the Needy and Persons With Disabilities have so far benefited from the annual Christmas tradition of the FCT Administration .

Presenting the items to representatives of the groups at the Old Parade Ground Abuja, the Permanent Secretary FCTA, Mr Olusade Adesola said the gesture was part of the Administration’s Christmas welfare package for the needy and the vulnerable in the territory.

The Permanent Secretary who was represented by the Director Human Resource, Dr Mohammed Bashir explained that the aim was to give them a sense of belonging in the spirit of celebration.

Mr Adesola enjoined representatives of the Groups to accept the food Items in good fate and distribute equitably to members, adding that the items would have come earlier, but for the upsurge of second wave of COVID 19 that the Administration was grappling with.

The Permanent Secretary FCTA also used the medium to educate persons with Disabilities on the need to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 preventive measures to curtail the further spread of the deadly virus .

His words:”… COVID-19 pandemic can disrupt lives and livelihoods…You are enjoined to please heed to the various health protocols of hand washing, facial coverings
and physical distancing.”

Also speaking,  FCT Director of Protocol, 
Sani Daura, who hinted that a total number of 60 Bags of 50kg rice, 60 Cartons of Groundnut oil and 12 Cows were set aside for the needy during this festive period, said each group will get 5 bags of rice, 5 cartons of Cooking Oil and a cow.

He highlighted the benefitting Associations to include:
FCT School for the Blind, Jabi, FCT School for Children with Special Needs Kuje, FCT School for the Deaf, Kuje, Abuja Children Home, Karu.

Others are, FCT Unity Children’s Home, Gwako, FCT Vocational Rehabilitation Centre, Bwari, Community Based Vocational Rehabilitation
Center, Old Karu and FCT Para Soccer Team, Area 10, Garki.

Other Associations that benefitted are: Lepers Colony Yangoji, Community Based Rehabilitation Centre, Zuba, Karon Majiji Disabled Community, and Blind Persons, Karon Majiji”.

Responding, the Principal, FCT Vocational Rehabilitation Center Bwari, Comrade Bala Soho Musa While speaking on behalf of other Associations thanked the FCT Administration for the welfare packages.
