FCTA Convicts 72 Violators Of COVID-19 Protocols

The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, Task Force on COVID-19 has sealed 2 commercial places in Karu over violation of COVID-19 protocols.

Head, Media and Enlightenment, FCTA COVID-19 Enforcement Team, Comrade Ikharo Attah said the decision followed a tip off from residents of the area that the operators of Karu Paris Lounge and Cool Leo were keeping large gatherings, violating COVID 19 guidelines.

The Enforcement Team also gave the operators two weeks to revert to the original approved use of the land within 2 weeks, or get ready to face demolition after expiration of the deadline.

Comrade Ikharo Attah maintained that the directive of the FCT Minister to sustain the fight against COVID-19 in the territory must be obeyed.

Consequently, the FCT mobile court sitting at Eagle Square convicted 72 violators of COVID-19 health protocols.

In her ruling, the chief Magistrate, Idayat Akanni said all the violators pleaded guilty and were sentenced to pay a fine of N2,000 each or undertake one week community service.

The court Prosecutor, Udeme Umana, had informed the court that the defulters were found not wearing facemasks, while others wore it below their jaws.
