FCTA Bans Scavengers Over Criminal Activities

FCT Administration says scavengers whose activities now poses a threat to security of lives and property in the territory remains banned.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the FCT Minister, Mr Anthony Ogunleye.

The statement says scavengers who often operate under the influence of hard drugs, perpetrate a lot of criminal activities within the Territory.

In the statement, the FCT Minister notes that scavengers who hitherto concentrated their criminal activities on vandalizing public utilities, had now become major threat to lives and property, adding that the menace of cultism, and drug abuse will be confronted head-on as part of its strategies to ensure the security of lives and property of residents in the FCT

The statement further revealed plans for an improved synergy within the security and intelligence community in the FCT.

The statement calls for the support of the citizenry, political, religious and traditional leaders in terms of providing intelligence to the security agencies.

The statement further says the security agencies were strategizing to fight the kidnappings especially in FCT rural communities .
