The FCT Transportation Secretariat has warned some licensed Taxi and Terminal Operators who use Touts to harass motorists to desist from such acts and work within their stipulated rules of engagement.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Deputy Director Information in the Secretariat, Mr Ifeanyi Uganmadu made available to newsmen in Abuja.
In the statement,Acting Secretary, FCT Transportation Secretariat, Usman Musa Yahaya threatens that the FCTA will not hesitate to invoke sanctions on any licensed Operator found to be lawless or operating outside the rules of engagement.
The statement calls for the withdrawal of all Touts stationed along the roads to harass motorists and other road users forthwith.
The statement which further frowns at the collaboration between unpainted taxis and licensed operators, says hence forth any unpainted or unlicensed taxi operator (kabu kabu) caught operating taxi services within the City will be forced to register with any of the licensed Operators and the car painted in official colour of Licensed Operators at the person’s expense.
The statement also assures residents that the Transportation Secretariat will not allow acts of hooliganism in the guise of Unionism in and out of all Terminals, as Abuja is a city established by laws and its laws concerning road transportation and other related matters must be respected and obeyed.
