FCT PDP Chairman Kicks Against Imposition Of Candidates Ahead Of Party Primaries

Political Parties and stakeholders have been urged to cooperate with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC towards strengthening the Democratic Governance in the country.

The FCT Chairman, People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Sunday Zakka who gave the advice while speaking with news men ahead of Parties primaries in the Six Area Councils of the Territory said party leaders must always embrace internal democracy and avoid imposition of candidates to avoid litigations and anarchy in the parties.

While describing the roles of political parties as bedrock for good governance, Mr Zakka appealed to political leaders to lead by example and educate their followers towards enthreching democratic system in the country.

On INEC Deadline for conduct of FCT Area Councils party congresses, the PDP chairman said the party abided by the decision of the Electoral Body and would complete and submit names of candidates for councilorship and chairmanship for next year’s Area Councils Election.

Mr Zakka reiterated the party’s resolve to conduct primaries devoid of rancour stressing that a 13 man Committee had been constituted to resolve any misunderstanding that might come up after the exercise.

The FCT Chairman urged all political leaders to support the Federal Capital Territory Administration in ensuring peace and unity in the Six Area Councils.
