As Nigeria marks Children’s day in the nation’s capital, a call for leaders at all levels to stop paying lip service to the protection and welfare of the Nigerian Child has been advocated.
Speaker of FCT Children’s Parliament, Miss Michel Chukwuma made the call at a forum organized at the International Conference Center by the FCT Administration to commemorate the day in Abuja.
Miss Chukwuma pointed out that if Nigeria as a country must be great, children often described as future leaders, must be given the desired attention to achieve that dream.
Miss Michel Chukwuma also noted that no family name survives without children, hence the need to prioritise their welfare.
Other school children on the occasion called on the Federal government to as a matter of urgency put security measures across all schools for safety .
Other respondents drawn from various schools across the six area councils of the FCT prayed for an end to insecurity and abduction of school children.
