Farmers In Nassarawa Clamor For Adequate Security In Rural Areas

Farmers in Nasarawa State have appealed to the state government to take urgent measures towards providing adequate security to the rural communities across the state.

President, Association of Small Scale Farmers, Mr Jonathan Joshua made the appeal at flag off of fertilizer sales for this year’s farming season in Andaha, Akwanga local government area of the state.

Mr Jonathan Joshua stated that most farmers especially in the Southern Senatorial Zone of the state had fled their communities while those in other parts of the state were living in fear due to incessant attacks on villages by unknown gunmen.

He stressed the need to intensify more efforts in deploying security personnel to the areas to avert possible food shortage this farming season.

Governor Abdullahi Sule while flagging off the sale of fertilizer and other farm inputs said the state government procured 20,400 bags of assorted fertilizer to be sold directly to farmers at the rate of 5000 Naira per bag.
