The Bayelsa State Governorship election tribunal sitting in Abuja has annulled the election of Duoye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa state.
The election was nullified based on a petition by the Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party, ANDP, which argued that it was unlawfully excluded from participating in the November 16, 2019 governorship poll.
Delivering judgment, the Judge, Yunusa Musa, upheld the prayer of ANDP and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to conduct a fresh election in Bayelsa within 90 days.
This ruling comes two days after the tribunal dismissed three other petitions against the election of Mr Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party.
