Having consistently knocked at the door for the top prize in Egypt in the last three years, Zamalek efforts finally paid off as they are the crowned champions of the Egyptian Premier League.
Zamalek SC on Tuesday defeated El Etang El Harby 2-0 in their penultimate match of the season to win their first title since 2014/15 season and their 13th overall.
This marked Carteron’s third trophy in charge of the White Knights after he previously won the CAF Super Cup and Egyptian Super Cup in his first stint in charge of the White Knights.
With this latest triumph, Zamalek SC now has 13 National titles, 25 National cups and 2 National super cups.
The White Knights were the last team to win the topflight league outside Al Ahly and they look indeed like the only who could end Pitso Mosimane’s side 5-years dominance.
Meanwhile…Head Coach of Zamalek, Patrice Carteron has expressed his delight after winning the league title with the team.
“I’m very happy to win the league title, it’s a very special trophy, and I congratulate the board and the fans after winning the last 8 matches and lifting the title, Carteron said,”
“It was a special season for me, I was there, then I left and came back but I feel comfortable here. We have new goals to achieve next season,” he added.
The 51-year-old French coach also talked about his favorite match of the season and the club’s upcoming transfers –
“There is no specific match that I preferred this season, but we played really well against Al Masry and Tala’a El-Gaish,” he explained.
“We were physically dominant in the second-half in most matches, which is what we will work on keeping up next season.
