The Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has enjoined Nigerians to use the Easter celebration as a moment of reflection, sacrifice and renewed vigour for a better and prosperous Nigeria.

Governor Bello made this known in his Easter Message to the Citizens of Kogi State particularly Christians in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Muhammed Onogwu.

The statement says it is expedient for leaders and citizens to begin to place premium on national interest as against individual aspirations.

It stresses that the lessons of Easter as exemplified by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ who laid down his life for the salvation of mankind should be a template for human existence hinged on sacrifice and love.

According to the statement these godly attributes should be modelled by leaders and citizens.

The statement adds that the important message of Easter was love for mankind, which should be imbibed by Nigerians towards national integration and harmony amongst various religions and ethnic sections in the country.

It says Kogi State under the Governor’s watch is more united than ever before as he created an atmosphere of equity, fairness and justice where every religion is respected, noting that with such in place any society would thrive in all spheres.

The statement assures citizens of a peaceful Easter celebration, reiterating government’s continuous efforts towards a secured and peaceful state.

It therefore urges Christians and other Nigerians to use the occasion of this blessed period to pray for the peace and progress of Nigeria.
