Nigerians have been urged to key into the Federal Government’s distribution of free electricity meters to eliminate outrageous billing across the Country.
The President, Nigerian Consumer Protection Network, Mr Kunle Olubiyo stated this while featuring on “Perspectives” a Kapital FM Current Affairs Programme in Abuja.
Speaking on the topic, six million free electricity meters set for distribution to Nigerians, Mr Olubiyo explained that the move would ensure transparency in the consumption of electricity in the Country.
Also contributing on the Programme, Radio Nigeria Energy Correspondent, Mr Kayode Oyebisi said free metering would enable consumers to pay what they consume and not outrageous billing.
Mr Oyebisi maintained that the intervention fund by the Federal Government in the procurement of about six million meters for the populace would put an end to electricity metring deficit in the country.
On his part, a Public Affairs Analyst, Mr Stanley Ebosie who called for improved and efficient service delivery in the Country stressed the need for full implementation of mass metering programme by the Federal Government.
The Guests therefore emphasised the need for more synergy between distribution companies and electricity consumers for socio economic development of the Country.
