The Armed Forces of Nigeria says it will continue to intensify onslaught against terrorists, bandits and other criminals across the country.
The Acting Director Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, Brigadier General Bernard Onyeuko who stated this at a media briefing in Abuja said the military would continue to engage in both kinetic and non kinetic approaches to restore peace in the country
General Onyeuko who explained that the briefing covered the 3rd to 16th of this month highlighted some of the key achievements of troops at various theatres of Operations.
He noted that there was reduction of criminal activities due to the sustained onslaught by troops of Operations Hadin Kai, Hadarin Daji, Safe Haven, Whirl Stroke,Delta safe and Awatse.
According to General Onyeuko, scores of terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and members of the Eastern Security network were eliminated during various operations, some kidnapped victims rescued and a good number of the bandits, kidnappers and terrorists arrested.
The Acting Director stated that series of anti-illegal oil bunkering,and raid operation that thwarted the activities of economic saboteurs led to the deactivation of illegal refining sites, constificaton of contraband goods and recovery of stolen petroleum products.
General Onyeuko explained that in a view to address the security challenges in the South East zone, the minister of Defence alongside other top security chiefs and stakeholders in the region held a security summit on finding lasting solutions to the security issues in the zone.
