DG CCLCA Pushes For More Credible Elections In Nig

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and the Judiciary have been urged to be wary of desperate politicians who want to win elections at all cost.

The Director General of a Civil Society Organisation, Centre for Credible Leadership and Citizens Awareness, Doctor Gabriel Nwambu gave the advice in Abuja while addressing newsmen on the outcome of the by-elections in Cross River North Senatorial district and other elections in the country.

Doctor Nwambu who expressed regret over the conduct of the election especially the boycott and double primaries called for proper investigation to ascertain the true situation and save the nation’s democracy as well as uphold the credibility of INEC and the Judiciary.

The Director General who cautioned against frequent court injunctions and judgements on electoral matters, said if not properly addressed, this could impact negatively on the electoral system.

Doctor Nwambu called on stakeholders in the electoral and political space to encourage young Nigerians to participate actively in governance.
