CUPP Condemns Spate Of Defections In Nig

The Coalition of Political Parties, CUPP, wants the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, to focus more on service to the people.

This is contained in a statement signed by the National Secretary of CUPP, Chief Peter Ameh in Abuja.

The statement Expresses regret over the constant Defection by elected officials which it describes as self Centred.

“Defection has become the usual way that some politicians exhibit their lack of love for Nigeria.

It stresses that ninety- nine point nine percent of defectors do it to protect their political interest with no regard to the people they were elected to serve.

The statement calls on the electorate to be politically alert come 2023 General election by taking opportunity of the multi-party system to elect credible Politicians.

It adds that Nigerians should stop focusing on the two main political parties as the only choice for elective leadership in Nigeria.

The statement says defection has weakened the National Assembly from carrying out effective oversight functions.

It therefore Advises the APC to focus more on how to deliver to the people infrastructure that will improve their means of livelihood.
