The Federal Capital Territory Administration has warned teachers in Abuja to fully comply with COVID-19 guidelines or face prosecution.

The Head, Media and Enlightenment on COVID-19, Comrade Ikharo Attah gave the warning when he visited some schools in Abuja.

Addressing Journalists after the inspection, Comrade Attah commended the students for adhering to the COVID 19 protocols, especially the use of face mask.

Comrade Attah who however expressed regret that staff of some schools visited failed to comply with the safety protocols, urged teachers to live by example.

According to Comrade Attah, inspecting schools on the third day of resumption was a deliberate attempt to take the schools by surprise, as inspections were usually carried out on the first day of resumption.

His words: “What we saw was a very strong compliance by students, but very sadly, school workers, teachers, some security men and non-teaching staff believed that the compliance was strictly and only for students… we see workers not putting on facemasks and we see cleaners not putting on facemasks… So we actually felt so disappointed…” He said.

Comrade Attah expressed concern over the fact that the situation was the same in other schools like
Government Secondary School, Tudun Wada, Wuse Zone 4, Junior Secondary School,Wuse Zone 3, Government Secondary School, Garki, Festival Road Primary School, Garki, and LEA primary school, Kuruduma.
