A Public Health Professional, Doctor Casmir Ifeanyi wants the Presidential Task Force, PTF, on COVID 19 to consider the use of Health Inspectors, Community Health Practitioners and NSCDC officers in enforcing compliance on COVID 19 safety protocols in the Country.
Doctor Casmir Ifeanyi who made the call while speaking with newsmen in Abuja on the second wave of COVID 19 expressed concern over non compliance with safety protocols put in place by the Federal Government in combating the spread of the virus in the Country.
According to him, the disregard for the guidelines by most Nigerians especially in public places if not checked may lead to the upsurge of the virus.
Doctor Ifeanyi who is also A Fellow of the West Africa College of Medical Laboratory Science stressed the need for effective health communication among Nigerians most especially in rural areas to further sensitize the people on the dangers of COVID 19.
According to him, necessary measures should equally be put in place towards revamping the nation’s health care centres across the Country.
He called for effective cooperation between NCDC and State Governments in driving COVID 19 response and compliance among Nigerians towards curtailing the pandemic.
The Public Health Professional said the plan to ban international flights from high risk countries on would go a long way in checking the spread of the virus.
He therefore advised Nigerians to always abide by the safety protocols to put an end to the disease.
While calling for strict monitoring of safety protocols in public places such as markets, malls, worship centres among others, Doctor Ifeanyi identified personal hygiene as key towards preventing the virus.
