COVID-19 : FCTA Mobile Court Convicts 1 Foreigner, 34 Others

The FCT Administration’s Mobile Court has convicted Ibrahim Albon, aged 37, a nationale of Central African Republic (CAR), who is seeking Asylum in Nigeria, and 34 others for violation of COVID-19 Health Protection Regulations Act, 2021.

The presiding Magistrate, Idayat Akani, admonished them to strictly adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols to avoid contracting the virus.

Akani, who imposed a fine of N2000 each on the violators warned that if they continue to violate the COVID-19 protocols , the court would be left with no option than to jail them for six months as stipulated by the act.

Head , Publicity and Enlightenment, FCT Ministerial Enforcement Task Force on COVID-19,, Comrade Ikharo Attah,while speaking with journalists ssid enforcement would be sustained in the FCT.

Attah explained that the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello and the Commissioner of Police Bala Ciroma gave the taskforce the mandate to carry out the exercise on daily basis.
