FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has directed the COVID 19 task team to commence aggressive enforcement of COVID 19 guidelines in public and private places to curtail the spread of the second wave of corona virus in the territory.
The FCT Minister gave the directive while briefing newsmen on the outcome of a meeting held with stakeholders on how to check further spread of the pandemic.
Worried by the second wave of COVID 19, Malam Bello called on all residents to safeguard themselves by observing physical distancing, use of PPE’s and other preventive measures.
Malam Bello pointed out that the fight against COVID 19 in the territory had been effective due to cooperation of residents.
He therefore, urged residents to comply with the rules; even as he sounded a note of warning that the FCT administration would be working closely with the Judiciary through the instrumentality of the Mobile Court system.
Malam Bello who maintained that all COVID 19 extant laws guiding the operations of recreational centers, eateries, super and major markets still subsist, hinted that the Abuja Market Management Limited would embark on sensitisation of citizens.
His words:” No mask, no entry, no service…There must be mandatory temperature check…COVID 19 is here, It is here to make u fall sick, to kill… to maim you. Am warning and advising that…we adhere to guidelines “
On places of worship,the FCT Minister urged religious leaders to maintain status quo and encourage followers to adhere strictly to all safety guidelines.
The FCT Minister also enjoined commercial transporters to desist from overloading to avoid sanctions.
Responding, the Chairman , FCT Ministerial Task Team on COVID 19 enforcement, Comrade Ikharo Attah pledged the team’s readiness to Carry out the national assignment.
His words:”…we will start with intensive advocacy talking to people over and over. but if they refuse to adhere to COVID-19 Protocols we will enforce compliance…we will be going round places of worship, markets, shops and offices to ensure compliance with availability of sanitizers, hand washing facilities. “
Comrade Attah gave assurance that violators of safety protocols would be made to face the wrath of the law.
