The Federal High Court, Abuja, has granted permission to former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke, to travel for medical check in the United Arab Emirate.
In a ruling on Friday, Justice Inyang Ekwo, rejected the objection raised by the prosecuting lawyer, Bala Sanga, and upheld the contention of Adoke’s lawyer, Kanu Agabi, saying such application was within the discretion of the court to grant.
He said the application was granted allowing the ex-AGF to travel to UAE on health grounds.
The judge proceeded to order the release of the ex-AGF’s international passport to enable him travel Dec. 15 and return on Jan 10 2021, before the scheduled resumption of trial.
He ordered Adoke to return the international passport to the court within two days of his return from the trip.
The judge adjourned the matter until Jan. 11 for continuation of trial.
Adoke is being tried alongside a businessman, Aliyu Abubakar, by the EFCC on a 14-count charge of money laundering.
