Court Admits 3rd Witness in Obaseki’s Certificate Forgery Case

An Associate Professor in the University of Lagos, Emmanuel Balogun, has appeared as a witness in the certificate forgery case instituted against Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State.

Prof Balogun who appeared as the third principal witness said he was subpoenaed by the Plaintiffs on December 23 to produce the original copy of his degree certificate before the court.

He however, told the court that he has never set eyes on Obaseki’s original certificate, therefore could not comment if it was forged or not.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed admitted the certificate of the witness, who also graduated from the University of lbadan with Governor Obaseki.

Meanwhile, with eleven days left in the suit, the Court has urged all parties in the case to cooperate to ensure completion within time.

Counsels to the APC, Chief Akin Olujimi and that of the PDP, Mr Razaq Isenalohme, briefed journalists shortly after the proceedings.

Hearing on the case has been adjourned till December 31 for cross examination of witnesses.

The APC had in the suit it jointly filed with one of its members in Edo, Mr. Williams Edobor, alleged that Obaseki forged the University of Ibadan degree certificate he submitted to INEC in aid of his qualification for the election.
