Clerks of State Houses of Assembly have been urged to shun corrupt practices and adopt transparency and accountability at all times.
Clerk of the National Assembly, CNA, Mr.Olatunde Ojo gave the advice at the Tenth Meeting of the Forum of Clerks of Nigerian Legislature, FOCON held in Abuja.
The CNA who described FOCON as the engine room that drives the legislative business called on the Clerks to be efficient, ethical, and professional in their conduct.
He further urged them to use the recent financial autonomy granted to the State Legislature to harmonise the gains of democracy for Nigerians.
The CNA, also urged the participants to use the session to brainstorm on issues of common interest for development of the nation’s democratic system.
In an address the Chairperson of FOCON, Mrs. Lyna Ocholor who is the Clerk to the Delta State House of Assembly appreciated the CNA for reviving the Conference and pledged that the Forum would continue to put the Nation’s interest first to protect the nascent democracy.
