A Civil Society Group, Building a New Nigeria, has called on leaders at all levels to give more attention to programmes that will alleviate poverty in the country.
The Coordinator of the Group, Mr Ejodame Emmanuel made the call at a Public Lecture in Abuja.
Mr Emmanuel Ejodame who observed that poverty and insecurity were some of the major challenges facing the country said leaders must create an enabling environment for Nigerians to fulfill their potential.
A legal practitioner and member of the group, Mr Job Dangana who stressed that creativity and hard work were needed for sustainable development maintained that youths should be given more opportunities in leadership positions.
Two participants Mrs Rose Gyar and Mrs Rabiat Usman expressed satisfaction with the event and called for more dialogue between the government and the electorate on ways of moving the nation forward.
The theme of the event was, “Every Nigerian, a Critical Stakeholder”.
