The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC has floated a situation Room where traffic reports will be received and disseminated to the motoring public for effective road management across the country during and after the Yuletide.
The FRSC Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi made this known in Abuja at a stakeholders meeting on the Commission’s preparedness for the end of year special operation.
Dr Oyeyemi explained that thirty Six thousand Regular and Special Marshals have been deployed for the thirty day Operation.
He noted that all Commanding Officers had been directed to create alternative routes Incase of high volume of traffic during the Yuletide.
Dr Oyeyemi however warned motorists particularly private car owners to avoid overloading and give maximum cooperation to the personnel deployed for the exercise.
The FRSC Boss reiterated the the Commission’s readinness to organise regular training for transport managers and tanker drivers to check incessant falling of petroleum tankers on the highways.
The President National Association of Road Transport Owners, Mallam Yusuf Lawal Othman commended FRSC for its prompt intervention during emergencies.
Also Speaking, National Secretary, Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, Comrade Yusuf Ibrahim said the Association had set up a special task force to monitor and ensure that members fully comply with guidelines on Covid 19.
