The Federal Capital Territory Administration has warned all parks operators to comply with the COVID 19 Safety protocols during the Yuletide or risk loosing their licenses.
The Director FCT Parks And Recreation, Hajiya Risikatu Abdulazeez gave the warning when the office organized an emergency meeting with Parks Operators on how to curtail the further spread of the second wave of COVID 19 in the Territory.
Hajiya Abdulazeez explained that with the second wave of COVID 19, gatherings of more than 50 by a group of persons would no longer be tolerated.
The Director who maintained that 7pm remains the closing time for all parks and Gardens during this season; urged the Operators to keep families together, and insist on “no mask ,no entering”.
Corroborating the position of FCTA on non compliance, Chairman, FCT Ministerial Task Enforcement team on COVID-19, Comrade Ikharo Attah who stressed that the Millennium park remains shut for social activities during thd yuletide urged other parks permitted to operate, to adhere strictly to the rules.
Comrade Attah said the Administration may have no choice but to lockdown if the level of compliance is low.
According to him, “Millennium park usually experience an uncontrollable explosive crowd during festivities which could spell doom for residents… won’t be left opened to the public during the Yuletide in view of the ravaging pandemic” he said.
Comrade Attah noted that the enforcement team would not compromise standard,adding that mobile courts would sit even on Christmas day to try violators.
Responding on behalf of Park Operators, Mr Smart Saheed who represented Eden Garden at the meeting, promised the association’s readiness to constitute a taskforce among themselves to ensure compliance .
