CAN tasks new NCPC Executive Sec on Conflict Resolution

The President of the Christians Association of Nigeria, CAN,, Rev Samson Ayokunle says wise and task oriented people don’t rush to take up leadership positions because it is a great burden.

Dr. Ayokunle stated this while delivering a sermon he tagged ” Emulating the qualities of great leaders from Daniel chapter 6 verse 1-5 at the Thanksgiving Service in honour of the new Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev Dr Yakubu Pam today in Abuja

He explained that many people rush to occupy offices for self glory and the benefits rather than thinking of what to offer.

“It is God that usually chooses task oriented leaders, using men and women we know that without your own effort, God placed you in this position because you did not lobby for it.”

We would therefore urge you to do your best without disappointing God nor those who put you in this position. Dr. Ayokunle appealed.

Dr. Ayokunle who said this was the first time a member of C.A.N is heading the helm of affairs at the NCPC appealed to Rev Pam to make integrity his watch word.

Be controlled by the Holy Spirit..an excellent Spirit was found in Daniel and because of that he was a distinguished leader.

“Be Faithful and be trustworthy , One of the things killing our nation Nigeria today is scarcity of trustworthy leaders” The CAN National President stressed

“Be Strategic, do not rush in decision making
Be Prayerful, putting God First in Everything, Be Courageous to take the Right Step and be creative like the sons of Issachar by distinguishing yourself and moving the Commission to higher grounds” he added

In his response, the new Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission,NCPC, Rev Yakubu Pam who said he has six points agenda for the Commission promised to abide by the act setting up the Commission.

Rev Pam who also pledged readiness to work with all relevant agencies in the Pilgrimage sector explained that he intend setting up a peace desk at the Commission to enable him put his talent of conflicts resolution to work.

Earlier Chairman of the Occasion, Rtd Major General Yakubu Gowon represented by the Minister of Special duties, Senator George Akume urged Rev Pam to put his wealth of experience in conflict resolution to find a lasting solution to religious crisis in the country.

On his part, the Deputy President of the Senate, Omo- Ovie Agege who described the new NCPC boss as a bridge builder urged him to sustain inter/intra relationship among religious leaders.

Also Speaking at the event the minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen who commended President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing a member of C.A.N to oversee the affairs of NCPC for the time appealed to religious leaders to pray against rape and gender violence across the country.

The occasion was graced by top government officials, members of the National Assembly, State Governors, Commissioners and religious leaders.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of the holy bible as a guide for the new NCPC boss by the Christian Association of Nigeria.
