The Christian Association of Nigeria , CAN, has condemned the assassination attempt on the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.

A statement signed by the General Secretary, Joseph Bade Daramola, describes the Incident as
Worrisome and collapse of the security architecture of the nation.

It calls on the security agencies to investigate, arrest and prosecute the masterminds.

“We are worried, sad, shocked, disappointed, and pained at the collapse of the security architecture of the government and the failure of those in charge to rise up to the security challenges” he added.

It says that If a state Governor is unsafe despite the security operatives in his convoy, then no one is safe.

The statement which commends the President and the Inspector General of Police on the directive to fish out the perpetrators appeals that the investigation should be thorough and not swept under the carpet.

It adds that the primary responsibility of any government is to protect the lives and property of the citizens and appeals to President Muhammadu Buhari to fix the security problems confronting the nation before the expiration of his tenure.
