The hope of Nigeria representative Enyimba international to book a place in the last four of the CAF Confederation Cup, was dashed on Sunday afternoon as they were held to a 1-1 by visiting FC Pyramids of Egypt.
The People’s Elephants nursed the ambition of turning the table against their Egyptian opponents after they lost 4-1 in the first leg played last week in Cairo.
It was the visitors that opened the scoring in the 12th minute with nice finish from Adel Ibrahim.
Hosts have to recover from the blow after conceding early and continued to dominate the possession with amazing performance and dangerous attacking prowess.
Their efforts paid off in the 40th minute as Super Eagles winger Anayo Iwuala leveled the scoreline and ended the half in a 1-1 draw.
The second stanza started with Enyimba controlling the game but they were unable to breakdown the well organised backline of the Pyramids.
The game ended in a 1-1 draw and 2-5 on aggregate which automatically eliminated Nigeria’s representative at the quarterfinals in this CAF Confederation Cup.
This make it second consecutive year Enyimba will crashed out of the CAF COnfederation cup in the quarter final having lost to Horoya FC of Guinea at this stage last year.
