The Defence Headquarters says it has carried out strategic, administrative, operational and logistics adjustments and reviews to effectively tackle the various security challenges in the country.
The Coordinator Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, Major General John Enenche stated this at the weekly media briefing in Abuja.
General Enenche explained that following the appointment of new service chiefs, the Chief of Defence Staff Major General Lucky Irabor commenced the restructuring of the Armed Forces to strengthen the various departments and operational Commands for efficiency.
General Enenche urged all stakeholders and other Nigerians to continue to give support to the military under the leadership of the new Chief of Defence Staff to sustain the successes recorded so far.
The Coordinator pointed out that troops at various theatres of operation in the North West and North Central zones, carried out several land and air operations, eliminated scores of bandits and recovered large quantities of arms and ammunition.
General Enenche stated that troops of operation Delta Safe and Awatse in the South South and South West zones continued to sustain efforts in the fight against pipeline vandalism and crude oil theft with the arrest of several pipeline vandals and smugglers, deactivation of some illegal refining sites and recovery of large quantities of stolen crude oil as well as illegally refined petroleum products.
The Coordinator added that troops of Operation Lafiya Dole in collaboration with other security agencies destroyed terrorists enclaves and facilities and eliminated scores of them.
